Discus Aquarium background colors

I just wanted to get some opinions. I know black backgrounds will make discus darken up and pepper.
Anyone ever try a white background?
I know most use a light blue. Wondering if white would have the same affect.
Looking to try something different.

Most if not many discus keepers paint all but front of tank white or a light blue .
I have solid white background on one of my discus tanks .
No peppering in my discus but the background is not the end all be all of peppering.
It often is from crossing another strain with pigeon as I understand ?

Darker colour is typical for many fish and especially cichlids with dark background and substrate. Peppering is not going to get more or less, though, as this is due to genetics. Think of it like freckles or birthmarks.

The peppering issue and darkening are two separate things in my opinion.

Peppering is related to the strain/breed of discus. All "pigeon blood" discus pepper with dark backgrounds and substrate. Non Pigeon Blood strains don't. I've seen this in action with a discus keeper here in London. Some of his pigeon bloods even in white backgrounds showed some peppering.

While at the same time he'll add others to dark backgrounds/substrates and not see as much as a spot.

For me, it's a species that looks elegant regardless of peppering. But for some reason it's frowned upon witin the community for reasons that still aren't clear to me.
