Discus After Salt Treatment

New Discus keeper here. My discus got severe fin root that one of the discus also developed cloudy eye. So on the same day evening I did aquarium salt treatment. I changed 50% water with salt treated water of dosage 5 tablespoon per 10 litre. Next day they looked better fins started developing. But since they were not fully recovered the I again did 50% water changes with salted water. After 1 hr of this water change they started getting stressed and on next day morning I observed they are hiding and swimming sideways. if some 1 comes near they are scared very bad. I think 2 nd day water treatement was not needed. Can some 1 suggest me what to do at this stage? To reduce salt concentration I did 20 % water change with normal water with antI chlorine in morning. All discus keepers Please advice me
To add to it they are breathing very heavily which is evident from their rapid fins movements

That is a lot of salt. I wouldn't do that much again.

Can you give us more info?

Tank size? Complete stocking?

What are your water parameters (pH, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)?

How often do you normally do water changes, and how much do you change?

Tank size of 24 gallons I know its very small for discus . I had 6 discus lost smallest 1 in fin rot..so now 5..earlier I used to do water change of 20% once in a 2-3 days

Your tank is too small and you're not doing frequent enough water changes. If you can't upgrade your tank within the next week or so, I'd rehome/return the discus and start again with fish that are appropriate for this tank size. The discus won't do well in this tank.

what texas said....Not even a single discus belongs in a 20 gallon tank.....rehome them. You should be doing daily water changes hot every couple days.
Did you not study up on discus care?
What about cycling.....how did you cycle it

For other guys, I know 24 gallon is too small for discus. I didnt know before I brought that its too small... b4 buying tank I checked in couple of forums where people said its ok to keep small community of discus in 25 gallon tank that where I thought of keeping them ...I understand its hard on fish but I am trying my best to keep my discus alive by reading all the forums and discus videos... can some 1 suggest me some thing other than upgrading tank size.

I would rehome the discus ASAP. Clean water should heal your discus but rehome them ASAP if you want the, to have a good life down the road.

Can yo7 send a pic of the discus?

Also, change 50% daily to get out the salt.

Sorry mate, I didnt do the PhD before goimg for discus caring...I am looking up for universities which could give me PhD degree...I checked in Oxford university they said they don't have phd for 'Discus Caring'.
There are many forums about caring for discus so that you can learn what we are trying to help you with here. To care for your discus you are going to need to do more water changes so they Have the water conditions they need to thrive. The tank is to small to have a community of healthy discus because they need the space and pristine water as they are juveniles that require absolutely perfect water conditions to grow into healthy individuals.
Salt is causing they to be stressed, changes like suggested above will aid them in recovery.

If you can't upgrade your tank, I would return them. They won't do well long term in a tank this size.

My Discus is back to normal ...today morning they started having food. I did daily 40% water to remove the excess salt content from last 3 days. its a great relief to see them back to normal..

I'm glad they are back to normal, but they won't grow to be big and healthy unless they're moved to a bigger tank. That tank is nowhere near big enough for the number of discus you have in there.

Continue daily water changes of at least 50%, and multiple daily feedings.

Happy to hear your discus returned to good health. Do you still have them or did you re-home them or upgrade the tank as suggested?

I am currently treating one of mine in a 15 G/60L hospital tank. It is kind of last resort as it didn't respond to a parasite/worm treatment earlier, hasn't eaten for weeks now and has as often happens gone from blue to all black.

I have gone with 1 tablespoons per 10L, or 6 for the 15G plus increased the temperature from the usual 31C (87.8F) to 33C (91.4F). It has "survived" 2 days now but I don't see much improvement. I think I will give it one more day then change some water to dilute the salt concentration, lower the temperature and move it back after another day no matter what.

Anyone out there with better ideas?
