Discus advice

I have been debating what to get as my centre piece fish(s)

I am thinking Discus, but want to look into this before I invest.

I have a 240L 4ft, planted with sand substrate. Currently houses 7 RN tetras, 2 BN catfish, 3 Albino corys & 3 peppered Corys. I realise the peppered Corys will not like the raised temp that would be needed so would re home these.

Think Discus could work in that set up? And actually how hard are they to keep?

    Thank you.

I'd rehome the plecos too - they can feed on the slime coat of the discus and injure or kill them. They're also not temp compatible. Albino cories really aren't either.

Adult, captive bred discus aren't hard. You need to keep up on water changes, but otherwise they're the same as other fish.

For juvenile discus, they're best off in a bare bottom tank with no other fish. They need very frequent, large water changes and frequent feedings. I wouldn't do juveniles in your case.

In your tank, you could do something like this:
    5-7x Adult discus
    7-10x Rummynose tetra
    8-10x Sterbai cory

Yeah I did hear that about the BN catfish. I really like the sound of that set up, might have to look into it abit more!
