Disappearing nitrates

Hey guys so I'm doing a fishless cycle using nutrafin cycle. So last it finally got to the point where ammonia was eoter 0 or .25 and nitrites were 0 and nitrates were either 10 or 20 ppm. That was 2 days same results and on the next day the ammonia and nitrates were the same but the nitrates disappeared. Still saying all are 0. No plants in tank. I did notice a few baby pest snails have hatched and are roaming free. Is this the cause of disapearing nitrates or something thatll hurt my fish? Is the water safe to add him?

nutrafin cycle is just bacteria. How are you feeding the bacteria? Nitrates shouldn’t disappear without a water change though.

HI Andiee if you don't mind me asking but what are you using to test your waters with, as your not being exact.

Your right on this score and I could go totally mad, as I added a betta filter in my tank with my main one and not having the same filter system it spiked my nitirite from 5ppm up to 40ppm, i've now got it back to 20ppm and that's with 3 water changes and vacuuming and I test the water again tomorrow.

So ive been using the apI master test kit. I have been shaking the bottles before use as I saw that might cause weird results. No water changes so far.

I'm not feeding the bacteria at all. Ive just been following the directions on the bottle. Which says to add a certain amount per day. It said nothing about feeding the bacteria. Is that a thing?

Well you've got a good kit but you only need to shake the Nitrate 2 bottle by the instructions
I did see that but I was shaking both before so I doubt that's what changed it. And I just saw someone else say they shake them all and figured it couldnt hurt

Sounds like it is meant to add fish right away like tetra Safestart. With the fish waste being the ammonia source.

Hmm maybe. I have added inigo into the tank and he seems happy. I will continue to test and monitor for a few days to make shure the cycle is still intact
