Amano shrimp definitely. Very low upload and very good at eating algae.
Already have 2 of those in here too. I might add another 2-3 of them but I’m not sure yet

I LOVE panda garras but the bowl is too small for them. Amano shrimp are amazing but you need to starve them to work on algae. I would get 4-6.

I might just get a few more for the bowl if I can't fit anything else in there

I bought it on amazon. The link I had doesn’t work anymore but if you look up “giant glass bowl” on amazon, I’m sure you’ll find one similar

I got some trouble in paradise Today I noticed Sunshine the betta was pineconing which can only mean one thing, he has dropsy. I took him out immediately and put him in a 5g hospital tank. Came back to the bowl to notice one of my ember tetras also is pineconing. From my expedience, once the pineconing starts, there's no treating it
I have no idea where this came from. Nothing new has gone in the tank for months, no plants, fish, equipment, nothing. Super frustrated as I've never been able to successfully treat the fish when they start to pinecone. Hoping to be able to recover from this and not lose any fish.

Update time. So I ended up losing Sunshine the betta and that ember tetra a few days after I noticed the pineconing. Thankfully, the remaining 15 embers look good and I haven’t lost a single one since.
I did get myself a new betta for the bowl. My girlfriend and I went to a fishstore in CT over labor day weekend and I brought a beautiful metallic blue plakat betta. When I got it home, I realized that it was a female (she has an very noticeable egg spot and really short fins all around). I will still be putting her into the bowl when she’s done with QT, she’s got until this upcoming Monday then she’ll be going in the bowl.
Other than that, not much else has happened in the bowl beside some crazy growth from the rotala rotundafolia. I haven’t trimmed it yet, I like the over grown look. My alternanthia (on the left of the bowl) is slowly growing, taking forever but its growing. I’m guessing it’ll grow faster woth CO2 so I might just set up a paintball CO2 system for the bowl (already have the paintball canister).
Here’s a picture of the bowl currently

Can anyone confirm what this plant is. I think its just baby rotala rotundafolia. Its growing all mixed in with my rotala rotundafolia and i love the look of it. I haven’t added new plants at all so I’m almost positive it is babe RR.
Heres my regular rotala rotundafolia

and heres the “baby” version of it

How bad is the distortion? I would love to start a bowl, but after I had a Halfmoon tank I am not so sure as I hated the distortion it created.

At this point, I’m used to the distortion. I would say its not bad (in my eyes) but that could be totally biased since I really do love the bowl lol
