Lol you sure did scare him! He went off like a shot! And he does look good in there.
He’s a little bullet that’s for sure lol. Thank you! I like the bright yellow against all the plants. Hopefully he brings the embers out of hiding. All they do is hide, it’s pretty frustratingLol you sure did scare him! He went off like a shot! And he does look good in there.
They’re barely out but they’re in there I promise! Lol I do want to get another 6-8 of them to have a bigger schoolYeah I didn't see them in the video. I'm starting to wonder if you're fibbing about the embers. lol j/k
That's where I got these guys from!I bet Absolutely Fish might have some.
That's where I got these guys from!
You know it! lol they had then labeled as Amanda tetras but they're the same fish.Ha! Were they in one of the little tanks against the wall in the last row of Freshwater tanks?
Thanks!That’s a good looking Betta

I usually just take around 2 hours to roam around the entire freshwater section lol but I stay toward the back wall with all the nano fishLol, I always go straight to those tanks as soon as I walk in. I love looking at the little critters they have in them. Then I work my way out row by row from there.
Nice! Can’t wait to see the finished look!Alright so putting Sunshine in my bowl was probably the best idea I had. I absolutely love the activity levels in the tank now. Sunshine has really brought the ember tetras out so much more. I still want to get another 6-8 ember tetras but for now, I'm very pleased with how it’s looking.
Here’s a video I shot just now from my bed
I'm super excited to have this bowl completely stocked! I'm not sure of the cherry shrimp will fit in the plans now that I have the betta in there thoughNice! Can’t wait to see the finished look!
I’m even more obsessed with this bowl now that there’s that beautiful betta in there!! Top notch stocking my friend, everything looks awesome!
Thank you so much! I’m beyond pleased with how everything is turning out in the bowl. I contemplated putting a betta in there before but opted out because I was afraid it would mess up the scale of the “nano” tank but he fits in perfectly! His color absolutely pops in there! I love it so much! And he’s so personable too, always coming up to me when I walk up to the bowl. It’s amazingI've loved this bowl since I first saw it but gotta say... Sunshine turns that 10 into an unprecedented 11!! Seriously, I thought the bowl was perfect before and it's even better now! Not only because Sunshine is gorgeous and brought out the tetras... but also because you wouldn't have picked a better color on a betta if you tried AND getting to see him and the others really gives the viewer an idea of how big and beautiful the bowl itself is.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... nice job my friend.
I told you they were in there! LolI see the embers this time!! Now I know you weren’t fibbing.
I agree with everyone else, beautiful tank and beautiful fish. That yellow betta is just stunning. I’ve never seen a solid yellow one like that, but if I ever see one at a store, I don’t know if I can hold back!
I’m feeding them omega one tropical flakes. I’m going to have to switch them over to the TCTG and see if them color up more. I usually crush them up before I feed them to any on my fish so I’m fine with thatWhat are you feeding your Embers? I've been feeding mine TCTG and they're a bright orange/almost red. The granules need to be crushed to almost dust so they can eat it.
Sheesh your embers make mine look terrible, wanna trade? lol. Let’s see if the TCTG make a difference in their color or notTank needs to be cleaned but here are most of my Embers (and pygmy cories).

Tetra Color Tropical Granules
I feed them to my silvertips and those guys are looking super colorful so I hope the embers color up like them tooOh cool. If my purple emperor tetras don’t color up much, maybe I’ll try those.
WASHED OUT!?!?! If that's washed out, mine are invisible lol. I'll be feeding them TCTG exclusively now to see if that helps.Funny, looking at my pic now, they look a little washed out. They're more brilliant orange/red in person. Might be the algae on the glass and lighting. They're also on a light substrate. The tank has been fed exclusively TCTG.
Amazon has TCTG for $6.80 for the 10oz can. I think I paid $9 for my first 2 cans. When I saw it drop, I ordered 2 more and I just started on my 2nd can. This is the staple food for all my fish. I have a 20 gallon storage bin full of food (HikarI mostly) but TCTG has far surpassed my expectations so I feed almost all my fish this stuff. It's cheap and I get amazing results. I know people throw around superlatives a lot but it really is amazing how well my fish do on it.

Now, when I bought them form Absolutely Fish, they were sold to me as Amanda tetras and the store employee claimed that they stay smaller than embers and less colorful. But when I did research on "Amanda" tetras, I came up with info on embers and how their scientific name is Hyphessobrycon amandae so I assumed that they just got Amanda tetra from the scientific name and they were the same fish. Could they actually be different fish?
Interesting. Was your friend using TetraColor Tropical Granules or Flakes? None of my Embers have black spots. I'll clean the glass today and try to take some more pics.Interesting titbit about the Tetra colour, a friend of mine had embers which were very pale so he used that food hoping to colour them up. It did but after a while but they started developing black spots, he immediately stopped using the food & the black spots disappeared, coincidence? no idea if it was connected but did seem likely.
I've been feeding my Embers TCTG exclusively for 5 months and no black spots.Hi, if I remember right he was using the granules.
Hmm that really interesting. I'll feed them the granules and see if I notice any black spots developing. Do you know if your friend had them on a dark substrate? Could that have caused the spots with the combination of the food?Interesting titbit about the Tetra colour, a friend of mine had embers which were very pale so he used that food hoping to colour them up. Yea they were slightly more colorful in the store so maybe it is the flake food that's not giving them as vibrant of a color. I'm going to stop the flake and start with TCTG today and see if there's a change in in their color in a couple months. There's a thin film of green algae on the glass so the pic has a greenish tint to it which makes them look less bright than they are in person.
I remember when you got yours. I think they had more color at AF. Could be the flake food you're feeding them. TCTG does have some color enhancing ingredients so it should help.
I got mine from Petco. 6 originally and 10 more when they had a sale, 5 for $5. The 6 original were slightly less colorful but after a couple of months, I couldn't tell which is the original 6 and one look pale like yours (no offense ).
They were on a very fine layer of pea gravel, at this point I must say he had a fish shop but they were the only fish in the tank & had been for quite a while hence him using the colour food as they just weren’t selling because they were so dull.Hmm that really interesting.
