Digging Snail

hey all. My smallest mystery decided there was something in the sand worth spending almost an hour on. Digging digging and more digging. He’s not only the smallest one, he’s also the weirdest one. Btw, this is after feeding before my clean up. He’s just adorable!

My rabbit snails dig by wiggling their little foot thing from side to side until they're under the sand.

I have video too. He dug under the moss ball. Too cute! Best part was play by play with hubby as sportscaster! For a snail. That I should’ve videotaped!

Hiii. So these snails are nocturnal and they dig (especially in already shady spots such as under plants) to sleep. They dug up all my plants ten times before I figured it out. They should have a place where they can go any time of day and it is pitch black. Whether you make a rock cave with three sides or buy something for them. They’re very sensitive to light and they’ll be a lot more active if they have somewhere dark to get a good nap in.

Thank you for that. I’ve been dealing with these crazies for over 40 years. They’ve always got somewhere dark and quiet to go. They’re awfully good at smelling a missed morsel buried in the sand. I just thought was funny/cute how long it can take to dig a hole.
