So I purchased the apI master test kit that everyone seems to recommend but I am having a lot of trouble differentiating between the colors. Any tips or ideas?

Yes a lot of us use it but yes it terrible. Color chart on the new sets is just useless. I have the old color chart and it’s much better.

I really don't kno what to do I'm in the midst of cycling where my ammonia is non existent now and nitrites are spiking so I really need an accurate test

Yup, they are hard to pin down. On the plus side regarding ammonia though, once the tank is cycled the goal is always zero even though mine always reads 0.25 it isn't too confusing. Nitrates are tougher. I can say it's definitely over 40 and definitely under 120 but where it is within that range I don't have a clue. But since my objective is always to be below 40, I know if I'm much above 20 it is time for a water change. And zero to 20 aren't as hard to tell apart.

Since that's all the tips or ideas I got for you, I'll throw in a dose commiseration to go with it.
