Difference between Rams?

Is there a difference between German blue rams and Blue rams? or are they the same?

At Petsmart and PetCo, they sell Blue rams and I ask if they had German Blue Rams their response was "no", but they replied that they have Blue Rams instead.

 

I don't believe there is a difference. I purchased 2 GBRs from Petsmart on Aug 7th, and they were labeled German Blue Rams. In actuallity, my understanding is the only two distinct species are GBRs and Bolivians. Even, Gold and Elecrtic Blue Rams are color variations of GBRs.

 

+1 above. Amazon, you should know by now that most Petco/ Petsmart employees don't know much about fish As far as I know, they're the same.

 

that's funny I had them do the same thing to me. I knew it was because it was a petsmart.

I always read the latin. Then look it up to verify. That is how I found out the "Red Minor Tetras" are actually Serpae Tetra at PetSmart, at least at my local store.

 

I give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

In order for me to learn, I put aside my own perspective so that I can listen to others without being skewed with mine....

PetCo employee informed me that the difference between GBR and Blue Rams are the coloring...GBR were bred to develop stunning colors while Blue Rams are boring in the blue color. That explanation sounds feasible....
