Did you guys ever hear of camel crickets?

EWE! I found one in my garage the other night and it scared me half to death... I swear its really an alien...

here is a picture of them...

204.jpg

It was HUGE... and it jumped right at me, I went screaming into the house for my husband, who thinks I'm nuts BTW... but ewe, ewe, ewe... NOW, don't think for a second that I don't have a can of bug spray in that garage just in case of an invasion...

Oh, yuk...

Exactly, my parents just figure, it invaded our home, so we should be able to kill it. I just grab a piece of paper and pick up the bug and throw it outside where it can try and live a longer life.

Yuk. I really, really, really don't like bugs or spiders. I can't touch them, never mind kill them. If I have too, I use spray (which isn't often cause the smell is disgusting and turns my stomach). I usually call my husband to do the bug thing.

I think its just bugs that creep me out... I don't mind reptiles, mice, or any other small critter... its just something about bugs I guess.

We have them in the sun room here.
They hide under the fridge during the day.

Since we do not spray, they make great large fish food.

Oh I have a no kill policy, no matter how disgusting. So from my chair, screaming, I demand that the invading animal (generally spiders) is carefully scooped up, put in a jar, and thrown outside. My husband kills them when am not home, but if am home, NOT allowed.

OK, I hate to do this but...
If you want to see a real ugly monster, here's a MOLE CRICKET!!! We Have them here in Florida, and I swear you need combat boots to stomp one dead!
And I understand some of you try and not kill a bug, but believe me, you'll make an exception for one of these nasty little creatures.

hehehehe,
When I took entomology back when I was in college, I was the only person to turn a mole cricket in.

It arrived in Tennessee in a box shipped to a friends business who knew I was collecting insects to turn in.

OMG what VILE creatures....the bugs not you guys!!

I HATE bugs but won't kill them, I recently whilst house sitting had my dad drive a 40 min round trip to throw out 2 monster spiders with fangs! Luckily dad won't kill either but isn't scared of bugs.
I once nearly had to amputate my right leg after being woken up by a very loud buzzing noise, my ex was freaking as he is terrified of anything that buzzes ( a big help he was!!) Turned out to be a LARGE dung beetle had flown in and had landed on my right leg as i'd kicked the sheet off in the night!! Amid my hysteria I did manage to chuck it out the window and saw it fly off but I was so freaked I wanted to take my leg off!!! ( weirdo I know!!)

Wow, now THAT is bug hate, Michelle. I think you win!

When I was in Oz, I used to hate to be given a hotel room on the ground floor. I'd check the whole room 15x for spiders before I could go to sleep.

theessigs, I have a LOT of friends in the military. One of them, I can't remember who off the top of my head, sent me a link to one of the camel spider videos. It was one of those things you just don't forget, so when this thread started, I decided to see where it went and (if someone didn't get to it first) eventually hit you all with this horrible little monster... (evil grin)

Severe arachnaphobia here.

As for other bugs, I have no problems with them and never kill them; well, except for mosquitos!

One of the worst things I've seen was at my local pet store the other week. I went to pay and on the cash desk was a small terrarium. In it was a GIANT MILLIPEDE!! I would have fled had my new little betta not been in a bag on the counter.

I actually started feeling ill and nauseated. Call me crazy but this is not my idea of a pet:

Actually the biggest problem down here this summer was spiders. My job (I'm the port_o_potty guy, remember???) takes me out in some pretty undeveloped areas, and I've seen a few this year that I'm not afraid to admit made me jump back a step. I am also not afraid to say that I did my best to make sure they did not survive the encounter, if for no other reason than they were living in my portable, and I'm not about to spend an entire morning trying to catch a 2" hairy miniture jumping tarantula!!! (oh yeah, did I mention they JUMP!!! I saw one jump almost 2 feet!!!)
I have customers and contractors that need to use that thing... nope, they have to die!

OMG jim!! If I saw a big hairy spider jump i'd be sitting on a cloud playing a harp within half a second!! ( or down below!!)

I'm sure i'd die on the spot!!

However fish used to be my worst phobia so maybe one day I'll grow to love bugs!!!!

HAHaHAHAHAahahahha WHO AM I KIDDING!!!

Well I told my husband that you guys use them as fish food, and well, he went and caught one and fed it to our Oscar... He LOVED it... and ate it whole...the legs were all sticking out of his mouth and all...

GROSS!
