I recently rehomed a red jewel & Johanni. I have plenty of caves of all sizes to accommodate all fish & even have some to spare. I would like to add more cichlids that would fit in well with this stocking. In the near future this tank will be upgraded to either a 75 or 125 gal. So I do intend on getting at least a few more venustus one male & 2 female which would be 1m/3female ratio. If I find them young I'll get them now. If full grown they will have to wait until the upgrade in the near future. :) I was also wondering if the yellow labs require the same ratio. All suggestions are welcome.

Nice looking tank. Is that Mondo grass you have planted?
  12. KribensisloverValued MemberMember

Yes tons of mondo grass, I love it. As far as input it seems under stocked to me. I wanted some expert advice

I'm wondering if the kenyis breed or the yellow labs (male has some growing to do first) if that will stock it plenty?

Your tank looks beautiful! I can't help with the stocking I'm afraid but, wow!

Really nice tank! I would recommend rehoming the hatchets, corys and danios as they prefer a much more acidic ph.

How long does your mondo grass stay healthy? I never have luck with it. I've read it is semiaquatic.

My hatchets were in another tank but we recently added butterfly fish to that tank & it made my hatchets nervous. I rechecked my parameters today ph 7.8, kh 120, GH 150, nitrite 0, Nitrate 15, ammonia 0.
The hatchets actually seem quite happy as they stay at the surface & cichlids remain mid to bottom of the tank. As far as the danios they seem happy as well considering they have doubled in size in 6 months. The Corys were almost moved upon suggestion, however after close examination they have no fin damage or signs of stress & clean up the tank nicely. I was thinking because the kenyis are so aggressive maybe I should have 3female/1 male ratio to reduce aggression. Keep in mind that this 55 gal will be upgraded within a few months tops to a 75 or 125 gal. Depending on which house we purchase & size availability ️ I appreciate the comments.

The mondo grass thrives in my tanks actually, so far. They are two weeks old

Money wort has been thriving for at least 3-4 months now

I'm honored you are asking for my advice hehe ;) the selection you have is actually kind if crazy. But if everyone is happy and thriving then I don't see a problem :) you have a beautiful tank, are the Africans messing with the plant roots?? What other suggestions are you looking for?
