Did I Kill It??

So there was a lizard in my house, and I attempted to trap it in a cup and put paper under the cup to release it outside. Instead, I accidentally cut its tail off and the tail was still moving....... I put the lizard outside and ran back in, too quick to see if th lizard was still alive. Is it ok??

I’m no lizard expert, but I know losing their tail is an escape mechanism. It’ll eventually grow back.

You’re good. Lizard tails are meant to break off so they can escape. It should be fine.

just don't be like me and keep the tail in a small jewellry box in your closet and let your mom find it months later

Yep the tail falls off to let it escape. When my cat was younger I used to find lizard tails all over the patio.
