Did I do a boo-boo?

I went yesterday to get a buddy for my five neon tetras. I came home with 2 AgassizI Cory Cats. The store said perfect for me but don't do well alone so to buy two of them. Now reading today it seems they will get too big for a 20 gallon long? Is it normal that one day later the neons are hiding? Also they sold me shrimp pellets for the cory's but they arn't touching them at all.
Thanks!

I think they will be okay because the tank is a long tank.

Some fish take a few days to eat and come out, so I think what you are seeing is normal.

Agreed. They should do okay since the tank is a 20 gallon long. Sometimes it takes a few days for new fish to settle in. They'll start eating eventually

Until they eat, make sure you remove the uneaten pellets after 20 minutes. Otherwise the uneaten food will foul your water.

Sorry my bad choice of words. The new Cory Cats seem fine, swimming and eating. The Neons don't seem to like the new guys. It is the Neons that are now hiding and eating little to none.
Thanks!

Since they're a schooling fish, Neons have that creepy community mind thing going on. The neons have been alone in that tank for weeks now. You're probably just seeing the schools reaction to newcomers until they evaluate the potential threat. Once the neons see the cories aren't dangerous, they'll come back out.

Cories are borderline psychotic sometimes which can probably be a bit unnerving to other fish at first. They'll lay around to the point where you're convinced they're dead, and then freak out and start doing laps around the tank at top speed for hours.

Yeah give them a little time, things will sort back out, there just getting used to the new house mates.
