I'm looking for a good lfs in the Greater Detroit Area that offers experienced staff, large selection and reasonable prices. Any suggestions?

I haven't really found any good LFS in Detroit. I use to know of a few but they closed or moved not sure. Have you been to all the LFS in the Windsor area. How about Sam's Pampered Pets in Belle River. What types of fish are you looking for?

Ah, you answered my question here lol

I'm still cycling my tank, so considering all options.

I have been to Petsmart, Corbrets, and Aqua Animania. Petsmart has good selection, but my friend has experienced a lot of deaths from them. Aqua Animania is very nice, but limited selection. Corbrets.... well.......

I was hoping a big metropol like detroit would have some really good stores, since crossing the border with hobby fish is not a problem.

You may want try Fantastin Fins, Fish Doctors, and Stingray Bay. All pretty good in my opinion. Definitely not a superstore type lfs.

I live between Detroit and Flint and I did come across one in the warren area a year or two ago but couldn't tell you if they're still there. I believe they were right on vandyke. Might have been:

Reef Solutions
27209 VanDyke Avenue
Warren, MI
(586) 757-3474 ‎

or:

Pet Vendor
25021 VanDyke Avenue
Center Line, MI 48015

I've also been to one in Flint that seems pretty good called Ocean Depot. I can't seem to find their address info...I know they just moved to a new building. They seem decent so far but It might be quite the drive for you.

In the past, I had real good luck with Oceans and Seas on Gratiot between 10 and 11 mile if I remember right. Bright blue building on west side of road. They got me going with a pretty successful reef tank years ago.

Also, for strictly freshwater, Tropical Treasures has been ok. They are on the East side of Gratiot, just a bit south of Mt. Clemons. They are kinda hard to see, tucked behind another building.
