Detritus In Qt

Hello all,

I have a 5 gallon quarantine setup for my 38g main. I used media for filter that I had building up in my main tank's filter for few weeks and used water from main tank to start QT.

I do have some detritus in main tank, but not a ton. There are a couple on the glass here and there but the cherry barbs I have love to eat them. So they were in filter media I put in QT obviously I wasn't worried because the QT has no substrate and only a few plastic plants. Nothing else, no food. Well they seem to be doing well in here because they are all over the front glass and some on the sides. I also have a couple little tiny looking bugs? I have some pvc I was going to it in soon for shelter because I plan to put some otos in here soon that I want for main tank. I've also moved some baby snails I've seen that made it in from plants I guess into the QT.

Should I combat these detritus? Or will the otos eat them up? Or? Weird they are doing so well in here is it not?

The ottos won't it detritus worms but they won't harm anything. I would suck some out with a sryinge every few days to feed my fish.

Oh no. Well I can’t really tell in the video. And I have no experience with planarian. Just google a picture of them. Should be easy to identify. They have triangular shaped heads with 2 eyes.

Okay. I'll just keep vacuuming them up whenever I see them. I can go ahead and put Otos in there? Or should I wait?

I don’t know about Otos. Wait for more experienced advice. But you may want to investigate how you aquired planaria? Are you putting plants in? Are you sanitizing them?

Also if it is planaria in your QT a tank they can overtake a small fish, weak fish, almost about to die fish, etc etc. I wouldn’t use your QT.

HI , I fancy having otos but as my tank was only just cycled they said they need to go to tanks of 9 month maturity.

Fake plants in QT. Rinsed with warm water and then before they went in rinsed with tank water during water change with main tank.

I don't see them in main tank at all. Only detritus (other post).

Okay thank you for that input.

Upon further research I think they might be Rhabdocoela instead of planaria. I don't see pointed head or eyeballs. More like grains of rice.

Makes sense too apparently they thrive in fishless environments Harmless too according to some other forums.
