Denison Barb Adult Price?

I bought a single denison barb at Petco back three years when I was new to the hobby. It's alone and in a 29 gallon community tank and is obviously too big now that he's an adult. He has a hard time getting around all the caves for the plecos and kribs. It was a dumb newbie mistake, and as hard as this is - is he by far my favorite fish in the tank - I know I should probably sell him in hopes that he gets his needs met. I'm going to be very upset for a while, I think.

I'm wondering what price range I should expect from the LFS if I try to sell him there. I know it won't be much since they need to make a profit.
He's three years old and 6 inches long. Beautiful fish, healthy eyes, scales, bladder, no nipped fins, very active, great colors. Here's the best picture I have for you. There's a video I'll show to the store that'll give them a better idea. He's a truly beautiful fish and the photo doesn't do him any justice. I'm really going to miss him.

A decent amount actually. If they’re knowledgeable. They go for $15 easy as a 1-2 inch fish, so you’d have to assume $35-40. However, they need to make a profit and it’s going to take the right person to come along and want it, so I’d say somewhere in the ballpark of $15-20 for you.

That sounds good, thank you.

I took the fish to the store and got $17 for him. I was very sad and half-regret doing so, but I know I did the right thing...

Who ever gets him is lucky !
I have a nice school of Denisons in my 180g.Some like yours 6 inches and 5 years with me .I think 7 of them .
They are actually being breed with hormones now by the Asian fish farms and getting cheaper.
I just scored 8 more @ 2 inches for $16 a pair ! Unfortunately I think has died already [MIA] ?? I suspect the hormone induced breeding is not producing the same quality fish when they were all wild caught just a few years ago.I paid $25 each for my first ones over 7 years ago !
A beautiful fish for sure .

Wow I estimated exactly right lol, I guess that’s because I’ve worked at a store before. Sorry you had to let him go!
