Demasoni with yellow labs?

Hey everyone, can I put these 2 cichlids together in a 75 gallon and how many of each would you recommend? If this combination works, my tank has finished cycling so I was wondering how to add them. Do I just add them all at the same time or only a few at a time?

Add them all at the same time. Get one male for every 3 or 4 females. I would get around 15 to 20 demasoni, and 10 to 15 labs. That would be the minimum for them, You could certainly have more.

Thank you.

I read somewhere that you need to vent these type cichlids to tell their sex. The ones I saw at the store were still quite young so I don't think they'll be able to tell their gender. I might just get a bunch of them and return the extra males.

I have both in my 100G, you can definitely keep them together.

That's usually what you have to do.

If you only went with those 2 species I would do 1m to 11-13fm of the demasoni, and 1m and 7-9 females of the yellow labs. I would add them all at once, but is easier to add one group at time so all the yellow labs first and week or 2 later all the demasoni.

Ok, thanks guys. I think ill do that; get the yellow labs group first since they're coming from different stores. Another question: around what size will each species have to be before someone can accurately sex them?

Around 2+in is when venting can be done.
