HI guys,
So long story cut short,I got 3 rummy nose tetras for free at my lfs. They were all fine until one of the rummy nose tetra got a weird disease (see thread on rummy nose tetra with whirling disease). I removed the fish before it died and the disease stopped. All was fine until today, when I woke up and found a dead rummy nose.I took it out and looked at it and was shocked! The fish had no more eyes!It was just a see through hole! The fish has no bite marks on it. It was ok yesterday except it was not schooling.I thought it was tired and brushed it aside. All my other fishes are fine.
So does anyone have a clue what happened? Your help is appreciated
Thanks in advance.

Could it be a contagious disease? Please help.

It most likely died from whatever was ailing it and then another fish in your tank ate the eyes out. Sorry for your losses.

I did not know that. Thanks for telling me.Disgusting.Is it normal for tank mates to do that? Does it mean I am not feeding enough protein?

Yes, it's normal. Fish will prey on weak and dying fish. Doesn't mean you are not feeding enough.
