I agree with the rest. It is a dead molt.

Ok good! I moved it around with a turkey Baster and look!

You can see were the shrimp came out!(it is hard to see on camera)definitely a molt .

More questions though, should I move it out of the tank?Is it ok that it molted so close to when bought them?

Leave it. The shrimp will eat it.

Lol, The shrimp will eat it for extra calcium. so, leave it in. Yes, it's fine they may have been getting ready to molt when you bought them. Just keep a close eye on them. Actually, they will hide when they molt and when their new shell come in they will come back out again.

I vote for molt as well. But I understand your concern, I went through the exact same concern when I started keeping shrimp. You can remove the molt or just leave it and the shrimp will end up eating it as extra calcium.

P.S. I adore my amano shrimp, they are such cheeky buggers, very personable. My only heartbreak with them is seeing my females berried and knowing their young can not survive, the larvae need salt water to make it. But on the plus side, they are long lived for shrimp and a constant source of entertainment. I have 5 in my red cherry shrimp tank and while I love my red cherry shrimp and they are able and have reproduced very prolifically in fresh water, I think I would take the amano's over the cherries if I could get babies, I just plain love the way they look.
