Dead fish is guaranteed

Hmm, maybe I should have read the fine print. Quote from one of the lines in the listing of the betta I bought.

"- Dead fish is guaranteed. You will need to take fish while still in the bag. (Do not leave bags out not, we will not guarantee). I will refund your."

Huh?

Does that mean I get my money back if I get a live fish?

In case anyone is curious the amount charged to me from the transhipper Julie Tran came to $42 for three bettas from Thailand. That is in addition to the $5 per fish charged by the sellers. Give you an idea the cost of importing bettas. Should have my crowntails in a couple days

Keep an update upon how it goes. I'm very wary about dealing with over sea distributors. Plus the possibility of a confiscation scares me.

Haha yeah I've read that one lotsa times. I can only hope that they speak very poor English. Either that or they ship lots of dead fish lol.

Hes speaking in FOB english. I grew up talking to people who talk like this, It is the point where they have a sense of english, yet they don't use english grammar yet still using asian grammar. Hes talking about a DOA guarantee. He'll guarantee your fish, as long as the bag is not tempered with or the fish is not taken out.

They will require you to take a picture of the fish, dead, in the bag.

This is not at all a possibility, these fish are being legal shipped through a transhipper, and go through customs properly. When they are shipped from Thailand they are shipped hundreds at a time together, that is why there is no charge for overseas shipping. The shipping cost includes shipping within Thailand paid to seller and domestic shipping here in the United States.

Oh I fully understand that they mean a no DOA guarantee, but that is not the literal meaning of what they actually do say.

In the past (2008-2009) I bought three other bettas (2 shipments) and had absolutely no problems. Hopefully these transactions go just as well.

May also be informative to anyone thinking of buying from Thailand. I bought these fish from two different sellers, but handled together by the transhipper, so buying multiple fish from different sellers adds no additional cost.

Their English is so limited I tried to offer to buy a betta from an auction that had already closed and I could not get them to understand that I wanted to purchase more from them. So I ended up buying the female betta from a different seller and they lost a sale.
