I have had an apple snail in a 3.5 gallon tank for a couple of weeks and k finally moved him into my 10 gallon with my 3 female platies. I noticed that he hasn't moved in 2 days and he is halfway out of his shell but he hasn't moved. he also smells a little weird but not the horrible putrid smell everyone describes. what do I do??

Someone else may well offer much better help than I can but, smelling isn't a good sign. I used to have an Apple snail (cant be bought in the UK any more unfortunately) and he wasn't always the most active of things. He would also doze half in half out of his shell, but he never smelt. Have you touched him to see if he reacts? Can you separate him? If he has died you'll want him out of your tank ASAP and i'd do a massive water change after aswell. Fingers crossed, that's not the case though...

sadly he smelled horrible and still hasn't moved (that made 3 days) so I had to throw him out.
