I was wondering if I could put prime into the tank before i put the new water in or do i have to put it in the bucket first?

From what I've read, either way. I do it by the bucket simply because it's easier for me and has become a habit.

Yes you can put it straight in the tank but the amount has to be enough to dose the whole tank not just the new water you're putting in.

In order to save de chlorinator could I put enough in the bucket to make sure it all gets dechlorinated for example if 1ml of de chlorinator equals 10 gallons could I just put 1ml in a 5 gallon bucket to make sure I get it all?

I put in for double what im changing. So 5gal change i put in enough for 10gal. More then i use more. If the water is smelling extra chloriney i add a little extra. Its hard to overdose a dechlorinator. I use prime for the most part.
