Danio not releasing eggs after a month?

My danio has been fat for almost a month now. I originally thought she was carrying eggs but has not released them yet.

I have 3 danios (2 silver, one more yellow) and only one is this big.
She is eating and swimming fine but I haven’t seen her poop but I’m not watching her 24 hours a day)

I have cut back on food incase of bloating and tried peas every week but nothing is changing. I do not see any pine coning but she has unusual dark spots around her ?

is she egg bound? Or will she eventually release them? The other danios chase her for a few seconds but for a long time in the morning

sorry im not quite sure, it could be dropsy, or a very big batch of baby fish, wait for somebody else to respond but you can always isolate her in a breeder box because she may be holding her eggs as she feels its not safe to release them (most likely because of other fish in the tank)

Definitely dropsy. Danios are never supposed to be that fat. The biggest they should look when egg-laden is slightly inflated away from the abdominal colours, and they shouldn't look abnormally wide as 'she' does in your images (it could be a male). There is obvious fluid buildup. There is also no way a danio would feel safe or secure enough to go into breeding mode in your setup, sorry to say it. They are shoaling fish and require medium-sized tanks and groups of at least 6, ideally 8 or more to thrive. Fish that aren't incredibly prolific like guppies will not try to breed unless they're thriving and the right conditions are met. I'm not sure what these are for danios but I'm also aware they won't just breed like cories or livebearers, they must be kept in optimum condition for a while and be of at least a certain adult age before they can start breeding. If you recently got them there's no way they're sexually mature. I get the impression that your tank is quite small, how big is it?

I also see you're keeping tiger barbs. Considering the probable size of your setup and your tankmates, that's not a good idea as they will lash out at other fish, especially slow, long-finned fish like domestic guppies, if they aren't thriving. I assume they're being kept in a tank smaller than 20 gallons, aren't in a group of at least 8 and have too many tankmates. If they haven't already, it's only a matter of time before they start lashing out at others.

The dark spots on her abdomen are where so much fluid and purulence has accumulated that its now stretching her skin and disfiguring her colouration.

Those are Desmopuntius hexazona, more peaceful and IMHO, better looking than tiger barbs.

So they are. I thought they looked a bit different from normal tigers.
