Hello I recently decided to start breeding Gold Danios and yesterday was the first day I put the males and females together. The females were very fat after a week of conditioning and the males were very active. This morning one female has let her eggs go but the other two females have not. The eggs are quite safe from the parents as I have marbles as substrate and they are below them. I was wondering if it would be best to take the parents out now or wait another night to see if the others let their eggs go.

p.s. I can only spot a few eggs on the ground is this normal to not be able to see lots or should they be everywhere?

Thanks Fraser

Hi Fraser,

If this is the first time your Danios have spawned there may not be 100's of eggs. It's safe to leave the adults in for another day as the eggs won't hatch for about 60 to 72 hours.

Here's a photo of some eggs that are 60 hours old and just about ready to hatch...

You will need some very fine food to feed the fry once they become free swimming.

Congratulations and best of luck with your new babies!
