Danio body is swollen? Help

Help!! Just went to feed my neons and Danios in my 15gal and noticed that one of the danios was up in the corner of the tank near the surface by the thermometer and wasn't swimming around like the others. I took a closer look at him and it looks like his body is swollen + I noticed a little white spot on is body.  :-\ Is this ich? I got worried so was checking all the others but they all seem fine. I fed them, but he didn't eat.  :-\

I then got the idea that something might be wrong with the filter so checked it but it was fine. Then because it is a juwel tank they all have the heaters inside the filter, then remembering something about ich happening if the temp is too cold I checked the temp of the tank and it was at 24' C. It's usualy at 26' C.  Now I'm worried the heater isn't working. It was fine last night.

I've turned the heater up to see if it makes a difference but don't know if it will. I have a spare heater that I have never used but it isn't a juwel heater so don't know if it will fit where the juwel one goes in the filter.

Please help. Does he have ich?

thanks

Gwenz  :-\ ???

P.S. I'm going to do a water change now (on both my tanks).

Well, the white spot seems to have gone this morning, but have noticed that behind one of his fins is a little red. None of the others have it + the others have started chasing him as well.  :-\

Heater seems to be working again. The temp is back up to 26' C now. Don't know what happened to it yesterday.  ???

What is wrong?  I've had them nearly a year now and they were nearly full grown when I got them. Could he just be old or something?

Thanks.

Gwenz

P.S. am planning on testing the water this afternoon and will post the results.

I just got home from school, and as usual the first thing I do is check on the fish and feed them. At first I could only count 7 danios and started to worry then I took a closer look and one of them (the one I mentioned below) was dead and was stuck to the filter. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

What happened?

Was it a bright red dot, my oto had that and it's a bacterial infection. Do a 50% water change today and 25% water changes for three more days and you should be ok, I did this and it didn't spread at all. If it's not that then I don't know. Sorry about your fish. :-\

Juwel heaters (if you have the canister like the one in the juwel 180), are thinner than a normal type. You can put two in there. If you can get the cash, buy a second, and set them both to the same temp, so you have a backup.

I have a fluval 304 and its not a patch on the juwel in tank filter.

Just a thought, if you saw 24c, it could have gone even lower than that, stressing the fish, and starting the whole thing off? just a thought.

Heater seems fine now. Thanks for the tips anyway. Do you know if it's possible to get Juwel heaters anywhere?

Atm - It was a very small dot just behind his fins. I'm going to do a water change 2day and then maybe do smaller ones for a few more days.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm starting to get worried about a few of the danios. 2 of them that are left seem to be staying at the back of the tank. :-\ What can I do? I will do a water change and test water but everything has been fine lately but will check anyway.

What is happening?
Thay are usualy so active. I don't know what to do. :-\ ???

No. They seem to be eating fine but are just very still in the back when it's not feeding fine.

Are the neons having a sign of problems or did you lose one recently, because that's a sign of commonly called neon tetra disease that can be given to other fish but is also confused with other disease but if you have no other sign then it could be it.

No neons are fine. I lost one back in november but since then all have been fine.

Have read about neon tetra disease tho. Don't think it's that.

Ok. Thanks for the help anyway. I'm going to do yet another waterchage 2morrow just in case and if I have time test the water too.

They shouldn't be dying of old age yet but if they were full grown when you bought them no one knows how old they really are.

I am sorry that your heater and all are giving you problems. If the water parameters are all okay and the fish are doing okay other than just not swimming it could be that they are not liking the currents or something in the tank. Do you have a strong current or flow from the filter? Could they maybe be getting bullied by the tetras?

I do not know that this is the problem...they are just questions for you to check into. I do hope you can find something otherwise water changes are always a good idea even if it does not seem to be time to do them.

Take care,

Rose

Sorry haven't been on 4 a while.

After a few water changes they seem better now. Swimming with the others again as if nothing has happened.

Heater and filter are both fine.

Gwenz

P.S. - been having some really bad weather lately and a few power cuts but have been trying my best to keep the tanks warm - all seems fine though!!
