Daily temperature swings

I'm setting a tank in my room, I have an AC unit in my room but the lowest temperature I set it is 25°C. The thing is that I only turn the AC at night and turn it off at sunrise. Normally without the AC turned on the temperature in the tank is around 28°C.

The temperature slowly drops to around 25°C at night and rises in the day.

Isn't really a temperature shock since it happens slowly, but I want to know if it would cause any problems.

I live in the Caribbean and my problem always has been that the water is too hot (I can't have fish that have a tendency to jump because I can't add lids to my aquariums), so I'm not comfortable adding a heater even if it's only turned up at night.

What are your thoughts?

I’m jealous. I’d love to have that daily temp fluctuation.

I have the same problem. I have 2 betta tanks and the temp goes up to 78-80 F in the day and down to 76-72 F in the evening I really need to figure something out though cause that is way to cold for a betta....

sorry though I don't have a solution yet.

Most fish are okay with gradual, naturally occurring temperature changes. After all, in most situations water temperatures fluctuate in nature also.

It's abrupt changes, like using radically warmer or cooler water in large water changes, that causes problems.

It takes hours for the water to change a single degree. And the most that fluctuates is around 3°C

It should be fine.

this may seem dumb, but could you buy a heater and only plug it in at night?

Does the tanktemp drop the same way as the roomtemp? I think that's odd

Having tubs in the greenhouse, the temperature swings around 10 deg Celsius. Lowest temperature in the morning and high temperatures in the late afternoon. With the greenhouse it is freeze or fry. No problem for Medaka and Neocaridina.

The tanktemp in my rooms follows the room temperature and is always 2 degrees Celsius lower. It adapts quite fast, tanks in the upper row stay wormer than tanks in the bottom row. I don't use heater.

No no, it takes hours and it only fluctuates by a few degrees.

that is what I am planning on doing. it is just only in fall that it gets this low though cause in summer it is crazy hot and in winter I keep a fire going so they stay nice and warm. but right now it is too warm for a fire and too cold for them.... but yeah I think a heater would be best for them so I am going to get it. they are just crazy expensive cause for 2 heaters it will cost at least $65...

But what fish are you keeping that you're concerned about? 25C is a common temp to keep fish on and even fluctuations to 20C aren't an issue for a lot of fish. I have 3 unheated tanks and temps drop to 18C sometimes.

I don't really understand what you're worrying about. A lot of members wished they had this "issue" hahahha

Maybe I'm just paranoid, I've never had a fish tank in a room with AC.

The fact of having a fish tank with temperature fluctuation even if it's gradual had me worried. But all you guys have assured me that it's not a problem.
