Im having some cycling issues witha large tank, and i was getting weird readings.
so, i took a sample of my waterto a local chain store that offersfree water checks.

me:i need to get this water tested
employee: sure, does some vague testing "yeah, its high in ammonia"
    me: how high?
employee: likekinda high, a little, but not too much
    me: (face palm). Butwhat numbers
    employee: in the middle
    me: what about nitrates
    employee: none
    me: strange
employee: yeah, but theyre the same thing as ammonia. Theres not really a difference and you cant do anything about it except wait.

That's why it's better to just get your own test kit and not have to deal with clueless employees, works for me :)

People at pet stores and local fish stores should need a qualification certificate or some sort of test before just working in any departments. They hurt more people then help. (Not all are like this though, I have a lady at my Petco who keeps fish for 20+ years now. )

Lol, I've heard them do this at the store before.... kind of funny to me but unfortunately people actually believe it.....

I attribute it to employee laziness... they're just so lazy, they'll tell you anything and hope you believe them, so they don't get bothered actually doing any "work".
