I'm so excited! My nitrites are at 0 and my nitrates are at 20. So do I do a 50% water change now and vacuum the gravel? There is a lot of gunk down there! I also noticed fuzzy stuff on my branch. What do I do about that? It looks gross and it's brown not green. ick!!

TIA!

Yay! Is your ammonia 0 also?
Vacuum the gunk and do your water change.
I don't know what the fuzzy stuff is, probably just wipe it off.
I forget, what were you cycling with?

If you're not adding your fish right away be sure to feed the tank.
Congrats!

Hey Lucy!!

Ammonia has been 0 for over a week! yea! Can I take the wood out and just rinse it in the sink? I was going to put my Platy in there but do you think I should wait a day or so after I do the water change or is it ok to go ahead and put him in there? I'm so excited! lol!

Rinse it it used tank water from the water change.
Can the tank maintain 0, 0, some nitrates for 24 hours?
If so, add the platy and as always keep an eye on the parameters.

So do a water change and then check it tomorrow and see if it's ok and then add the Platy?

I had the goldfish in it for a 2-3 weeks and then took them out. By then the ammonia was sky high so I just fed the tank once a day to keep it going.
