Unless the formula has been changed, Stress Coat supposedly does remove ammonia. But it is no substitute for Prime. The ammonia Stress Coat supposedly removes is the small amount of ammonia released when chloramines are removed. Chloramines is a compound made of chlorine and ammonia. To remove chloramines, the ammonia-chlorine bond has to be broken so the chlorine can be removed. This release a small amount of ammonia into the water, which Stress Coat claims it removes.
