Good morning. Everbody
My friend is trying to cycle his tank
I went to the lfs with him and purchase everything he needs
40G breeder
Filter
Heater
Hood. Light TSS + etc
So I told him fill the tank let it run for 24 hrs. Add tss+ then 45 mins later add 6 fish
He rather do a fish less cycle. He doesn't want to dose everyday
So when he when and get the fish the next day.
I called off at wrk so I didn't go with him
The guy in the store sold him this

The tank isn't cycled, high ammonia and nitrite levels. I'm confused because that bottle is just bacteria, so is he using a source of ammonia?

The tank isn't cycled just yet, what is his ammonia source, pure ammonia? Unless that bottles bacteria has ammonia with it already some how. Never used it before.

The tank should have 0 ammonia and nitrite with some nitrates, once that is done he can add fish. The tank should be able to convert 2ppm of ammonia in 24 hours.

You can actually use TSS+ with liquid ammonia and do a fishless cycle with it. I did it successfully. Just know how many drops you need to dose to 1-2ppm ammonia and dose every day.

No doubt, but he never mentioned an ammonia source

No I know it's not cycle yet. He was just curious to how the test kit work. His doing a fishin cycle. So there's fish in there

You never heard about it before? I know it's not 100% cycle. His doing a fish in cycle

Aqua Vitro Seed is a line from Seachem which I've heard good things about. It does contain the nitrifying bacteria to cycle a tank.

What fish and how many did he add? Has he tested his tap water for everything?

O really. Thanks a lot. My friend got it.
He has a 40G breeder
6 fish
3 neons
3 danios
Is this a 2 week process or more or you won't know
Sorry. We forgot to test the tap water.

Assuming there are no ammonia and nitrites in the tap, I would do at least a 50% water change to get the ammonia down. Test the pH out of the tap and tank as well.

I'd think it would take about 2-3 weeks minimum to cycle.

Do he have too
We added Tss+
But tbh he added a new filter so what exactly should he do for these 2 weeks or 3
But I'll tell him to test his tap water

Since TSS is in the tank you shouldn't do anything for 2 weeks. Just continue testing the water daily.

Thanks. I'll tell him that
Maybe he needs to add another bottle because it switched filters on firday
Or should he just keep adding the aqua vitro seed

If the vitro seed has bacteria in it then just add that.
