Sorry!
And you did all the hard work

I think Rach did most of the hard work. I just guided... and then you stole my thunder. Lol.

Thanks guys glad to hear it’s heading in the right direction and I’m getting closer to getting my fish

Tested this morning and the readings are 0ppm ammonia, 1ppm Nitrite and 40ppm
Nitrate. Should I do another water change?

I’d wait till the nitrite goes, then dose ammonia one more time. See if it all goes to nitrates in 24hrs. When it does, do a water change to bring the nitrates down, and buy some fish....

Nitrates won’t get too high for the cycle, but <20 is what you should aI'm for with fish.

Nappers

I'd dose to 2ppm ammonia and carry on, won't be long now

Rach05

Nitrites still aren't dropping.

Nappers

They will.
Be patient.
You could start to get yank 'fish ready', make a water change to get nitrates below 20ppm, make sure water is conditioned as you would for fish, have a good clean up.
All probably unnecessary but wouldn't harm anything and will keep you busy

Keep ammonia at 2ppm until cycle is finished

Could I do the rest as a fish in cycle? doing water changes when necessary and treating the tank with prime.

Nappers

I can't see why not

Coptapia

I’m not a fan of fish-in cycles and have never done one. Apparently you can if you dose Prime everyday and do water changes to keep ammonia and nitrite at very low levels. I’ve only ever used one bottle of Prime (hate the smell) so can't really say much.

Personally I’d wait.
