Cycling/CloudyWater

I am bout two weeks into cycling my tank. I am using Prime, Stability and some fish. The fish have been in the tank for over a week and all look fine. I guess I have the "bacteria bloom" going on as my water has been a little cloudy. Does that cause cloudy water?

Should I do water changes more often than once a week during this period of cloudiness? Or just let it run it's course.

How does cloudy water affect the fish?

Hello,
You are correct, the cloudy water is probably caused by bacteria bloom. What fish are you using to cycle your tank?

Your info shows that you do not know the nitrogen cycle, you should read up on it, it is very important to know.

I would only do water changes once a week.

Good Luck

I have two gold red streak severums, two JuliI Corys, a Clown Loach and a Rainbow Shark.
I have read some about the Cycle but, hmm. Think I need a good layman's description.
How long should I expect the cloudiness to last? Should I use something like "Clarity"?

Cycling is when your tank develops beneficial bacteria to process the harmful ammonia and nitrite.
I`m a bit concerned over the fish though, those fish aren't the usual kind of fish that you would use to cycle a tank. I think they might be okay though because of the prime and stability you are adding.
You are also overstocked I believe. I`m no expert on stocking though so hopefully someone else will chime in and help.

You need to read up on the nitrogen cycle too, it is VERY IMPORTANT.

I hope I'm not over stocked as I plan to have a school of 5-6 Severums after I get through the cycle. My tank is 30"x12"x24". and holds bout 37 gallons. Hope to add a pleco that does not get to large like a Butterfly Bushy-nose and prob should have at least 2 more Julii's

Guess tomorrow would be a good day to get a test kit and see exactly what's going on.

You are definently overstocked, sorry. Rainbow sharks need a 55 gallon tank and severums grow up to 8 inches long, clown loaches grow up to 12 inches long. You need to solve this problem or you may have some serious issues, we will be able to help you do that .
Yes it would be a good idea to get a test kit.

For me, the cloudiness usually lasts about a month, you shouldn't add anything to the tank to clear it up
