Cycling all but wrapped up...I hope.

Kev3666

So after a little over 2 weeks of fishless cycling my planted aquarium, I came home this morning and it was cycled.
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40-80

I read that to be sure everything is ready for fish, dose to 2-4 ppm of Ammonia and after 24hrs, it should level back out. So I dosed back up and now the wait game. If everything goes back to normal tomorrow, is a water change all I need to do then drop in new fish? Should I wait a specific amount of time after the water change to add fish? I jumped the gun and told my daughter that we could get her fish tomorrow afternoon....
First time doing this so I want to get it right the first time.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Yes, if you have no ammonia readings or nitrites tomorrow then all you have to do is get your nitrates down. Keep in mind that you probably don't want to get all of your fish tomorrow, depending on your tank size and which fish you are getting it's still possible to overwhelm the bacteria that are built up.

I figured I would start with a 50% water change to get the Nitrates down
