Hi-- I know that I have seen threads about Cycle, but I can't find any. Here is the deal-- I can't find Bio-Spira anywhere here, and I can't order it online because by thie time I pay to ship it. it costs $40+. So, I am impatient to the max. (for those of you who know about my ebay prob., Fish tank guy still hasn't brought my tank) And I need to speed up the cycling process. Is Cycle a decent product, and are there anyothers. I think API makes one, StressZyme or something like that. Any suggestions welcome. :-\

I have used cycle and StressZyme, both seem to help, I would say if it sets on the store shelf for months it isn't that great, but at my LFS it flys off the shelf about as soon as it comes in. It is all expensive, the next time I am going to try bio-spira to be able to compair.

I have had cycle since the beginning, and I have to say, just use it. It works great for the size of tanks that I have and the money I am able to put towards it. Some people would say that it puts your tank in one of those traps that if you stop using it, the tank will crash because of the lack of natural good bacteria but even my 10 gallon tank is stable already and is able to support the amount of fish I have in it right now. But like I said, it is ,imo, the greatest product for what it is meant to do.

Cycle has been working for me, but my 10 gallon went really bad on me lately, but I also had too many fish in there last week. There were only two African (Powder Blue) cichlids in there, but I was keeping two convicts in there for a friend of mine while she was getting her new 30 gallon tank going. Everything was fine until I added those guys, then all toxins went really high.

OK, here's the deal, I bought Bio Spira on-line & yes, if I ever do a stand up comic routine, I'll have to use this story. I was working twelve hour shifts at night last week, so...pretty tired & all & was in a hurry to add the BIo Spira when I got it. The product itself is in a really small pouch & you won't see it at first when you open up the box. Just don't do like I did & dump in the ice pack....I know! Yes, the shorter bus in waiting for me outside my door. As Jeff Foxworthy would say...."Here's your sign!"

I used cycle on my 10 and 20 gallon tanks, and while it can get expensive, it worked perfectly. If you decide to use it, follow the directions religiously. after the first 2 weeks, it says to use it once a week I think, but I have "weened" my tanks off of it and they are both doing great, even going through diatom blooms. all of my fish are healthy and great, especially my tiger barbs, who have recently discovered that they can "ride" the flows of my filter and air stone. so if you have the monetary resources to use it, give it a shot, if you don't want to spend the money, looks like its the natural way for you!

And I have noticed, the bigger the container of it, the less money you spend in the long run for even a single tank.

I used it for my 30 gal, but I also threw in some cultured gravel from my 10...it cycled in 2 weeks, but I can't tell you which of the two helped that happen. My 2.5 cycled in a couple of days, and all I did was use gravel from my 30...meaning ALL the gravel that is in my 2.5 is from my 30...so it got a lot of bacteria. Who knows? I just got Cycle that once because I was impatient. I swear by cultured gravel, though.
