Cycle Question?

I have been cycling my tank with dry reef save rock and fijI pink live sand,Day 9 of the cycle, I am at .50 ppm ammonia, 5 ppm nitrite, and 160 ppm Nitrate should I keep dosing ammonia to 2ppm or should I let the cycle play out for a few days then recheck and redose? or do a water change and redose ammonia?

Do a water change to lower nitrates then redose ammonia to 2ppm.

Just got a nice sheet from BRS and Dr. Tim's that may help:


I would do a large water change because nitrates that high can actually stall your cycle. It becomes an inhospitable environment for the bacteria in such high levels.

so I did a 60% wc and retested down to .25 ammonia , 2.0 ppm nitrite and 20ppm nitrate I will keep a eye on it for a few days and see where it goes thank you love that chart!

when the cycle is complete should the tank be able to process 2ppm of ammonia into nitrate in 24 hrs?
