hehehehe, nope, different stuff Most of the time I buy my freeze dried blood worms and freeze dried shrimp through Amazon. I try to stick to the Omega One and HikarI brands for bottom feeder foods.

Some folks also feed them in the frozen form but those would be hard for me to get so I stick with freeze dried. You will find that the freeze dried stuff is kinda difficult to make sink. I actually put it in a net with a large weave so the corys can pull them out. You just have to work out the best way for you.
Ok will order some on amazon. Wish me luck

Haha I found some at a good price. Ordered some omega one fd shrimp and brine shrimp. Unfortunately they are out of blood worms but will check back in. So can I use these for other fish like neon tetras as a snack?

I am happy to hear that you found them at a reasonable price. I can't imagine what was going through the mind of the folks that had that outrageous price on it.

Yes, they can both be fed to all the fish but only as a treat no more than maybe a couple of times a week. Just be sure to soak the freeze dried stuff in a bit of tank water first. Better to let it swell up before it goes inside the fish.

My corys get mostly shrimp pellets and sinking wafers for bottom feeders. I usually drop one or the other in after lights out each night. Since you plan on adding 8 corys you may want to fast them the first day and night to give them time to settle in and then offer them the shrimp pellets. I would only put in 3 or 4 just to see if they will eat them.

It may take them a few days to get used to their new home and since you can't know what they were being fed they may have to get used to new food too. Make sure they have hiding places and give them time to get settled in.

Ok so I got my fish just getting them used to the water. Didn't have panda cory so I got salt and pepper corys instead. Love them already and very very happy.

Oh and added some prime just incase and my nitrates this morning was around 10ppm 20ppm at the most.

Yay!!!! I can feel your joy I have been reading that panda corys can be kinda hard to keep alive so getting salt and pepper might have been a blessing.

Adding the Prime was a good move. As long as you no longer see ammonia there is no need to add it to the tank anymore or to your spring water. It won't hurt anything but I don't think it is necessary.

Just continue testing to make sure your numbers stay good

This is when the turkey baster comes in handy. I think you could go ahead and leave it in there for a few hours but if there is a lot left you may have fed too much. You will soon learn how much to feed them. It is very easy to over feed but time will be the best teacher as to how much to put in there each time.

Sorry but just wanted to ask you I tried to get all the food but I know I missed a bit will that spike my ammonia? Didnt want to move the cave and scare them on the day they already have been stressed to the max. Have yelled at my friends who fed them already and made them feel pretty bad bit now I'm scared this could really screw things up

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Food decay is slower than poop decay, so I'd just keep an eye on parameters. If anything, it will gradually increase the ammonia, not spike it. I think your cycle should handle it just fine though.

I found out after a few days that my fiance was feeding our goldfish in the middle of the day when I was trying to keep ammonia down during an in-fish cycle. I was pretty annoyed by it, so I understand your frustration. Though my fish already wasn't eating because of stress from cycling, so the extra food was REALLY making things worse. I had no nitrate or nitrite at the time and was barely keeping ammonia in check with daily water changes though, so the situation was a little different.

I'm not sure how I missed this post. Fortunately ETNsilverstar was on the ball and answered your question.

Better for your friends to feel bad for a little while than them not being called out for doing what they did. It is much better for the fish for one person being the one to feed them. Lots less chance of overfeeding that way.

The good thing about the food is that it takes a while to decompose into ammonia so there is no need to worry about hurting your cycle. The worse that could happen now that your cycle is so close to established is a mini-cycle. That is just a little spike in ammonia and/or nitrites. I really really don't expect that to happen but if it does you have prime to neutralize low amounts and know to do water changes it it gets higher.

Your little guys will eventually get used to the tank maintenance and whatever you do will just be taken in stride. I actually am constantly doing something in one or another of my tanks and my fish have learned to just accept it.
