Cutting individual leaves of Java Fern w/rhizome

Teahaus

Greetings from Canada! I was recently gifted some pretty healthy and HUGE java fern from a friends big tank and while they will fit in my ADA 60P tank, they are connected to the rhizome (about 6 - 8 leaves). Rhizome is a healthy green with a ton of brown roots and this plant was flourishing in my friends tank. I'm wondering if it's safe to cut the rhizome into smaller pieces (2 leaves or even one leaf) for placement in my smaller tank. It's very hard to find a good place for them attached to these 7" rhizomes. Any advice is appreciated.

Well, did some surgery on those big java ferns this afternoon.........let's see how this pans out. Also am trying some Fritz's Turbo Start (not sure if it will work since it expired end of April). Let the fun begin.........
