Crypts and swords growing poorly?

As a result of my canopy shattering, I've had to change back to my old aquarium hood (with stock lights). My crypts (short ones only - the tall ones are growing like weeds!) and swords have started dying off (as opposed to poor growth, but survival earlier) and I don't know why, since they're supposed to be low-light plants. I'm shoving 3 root tabs straight into their roots and dosing 1.5x dose of Profito every weekend at this point, but there's been no progress in 2 months. What could be wrong?

I find that just a change in lighting can cause this. Crypts especially melt extremely easily. They should, however, rebound fairly quickly if no other conditions were changed. Two months is a while. I have seen my crypts go into a sort of “dormancy” for around three months when I first plant them, and then after that just take off growing super fast. Maybe yours are doing this too. I would stop adding root tabs. They don’t need nutrients while they aren’t actively growing.

Maybe you're right and it's because I had a bit of a hiatus in dosing for two weeks. My canopy cracked nearly a year ago though. What's funny is my tall crypts (balansae) are absolutely bulletproof and just keep on going no matter the change.

Crypts are just like that. Some will keep growing no matter what and some will melt if you look at them wrong. I think that in this case, all you need is patience.

Not sure about the swords. I guess just wait and see.

If it makes you feel any better it is the same for me. Crypts growing like weeds, swords not so much. I see these beautiful swords filling tanks from bottom to top with big beautiful leaves and then there are mine. Poor pitiful little things.

It is the same with water wisteria, hornwort, any of the mosses and lots of other easy plants. For me they just melt away never to be seen again. Some folks can grow massive jungle vals. Not me. I am fortunate to get one to grow 6 inches tall. Dwarf sag was doing really well for me until I thinned it out. Once I did that what was left is now struggling.

Crypts and java ferns seem to love my water and lighting. I have decided it is better to just find something that does well for me and stick with them.

Exact same here lol.
Water wisteria decided not to grow roots - chucked.
Moss doesn't attach itself to wood, decides to sink and die.
Jungle vals died because of failed one-two-punch algae fix.

I can’t seem to grow wisteria or aponogeton ulvaceus for very long without it melting. Crypts, swords, ludwigia, tiger lotus, and most others are what I stick to, and I avoid those two.

Its always different in any tank. I can grow Vals like mad and Crypts have never melted once on me. I can't grow swords and most stem plants I've tried.. find what thrives and go for it....

No luck with stem plants here either
Problem in finding what thrives is it doesn't match my planned layout haha.
Welp, guess I am gonna go with jungle in the end
