I was thinking of moving a portion of my crypt. to another spot in my tank but still keeping most of the original plant at the same spot. So can I do this, do I have to separate a portion of it by just taking some off the mother plant?

The cryptocoryne variety is wendtii

WendtiI will form plantlets which can be removed from the mother plant.
Remove the substrate from around the plats base to see if you have any.
If you do, they can be gently pulled apart from the mother plant.

That is an awesome thread. With my java fern I have always just pruned leaves and then cultivated new plants off them, didnt know I could cut them.
