Recently my rescue dragon scale betta began flaring at my platy so i bought him a new 5g tank. He's doing just fine, i put him in a few hours ago. (Doing a fish-in cycle) lots of decor for him, Tank has a filter but not a heater. Should i get a heater? I figured since its just a 5gal nano tank it doesnt need one and my house stays at like 72-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Anyways, im a beginner on betta fish keeping and need care tips. I know a bit, u know the bear necessities, but can i do more? Thanks. 4]

Bettas prefer a temperature of 76-79°F. Unless you don't have temperatures reaching between 76-79°F, then you should invest in a heater.

Also, stay away from plastic plants as they may rip your betta's fins. Use silk or live plants.

I keep a heater in my 6.5 gallon betta tank. I probably would not need it if my office was consistent in temp. I keep my betta at 78, so you are a little low. I believe the lowest is around 74.

Yes i know, the tall ones are plastic but all the bristles are not sharp at the end. Also the small ones will come out soon since i am going to buy some silk plants maybe tomorrow or sometime this week.

And okay i will buy a heater too
