I went to a local pet chain store called pet supplies plus and I was looking at their fish. One of the workers walked by and was feeding the fish live crickets. I've never seen or heard of this before. I'm assuming it's safe right? Is there any benefit to doing this?

A lot of fish eat bugs. Anytime an ant or fly or gnat etc is in my home I catch it and boom! Free snack!

The only problem could be possible parasites :/ i used to feed my betta ants and not so long after he developed an internal parasite. I guess you just have to be unlucky enough but be careful nevertheless

The crickets are farmed for amphibian and reptile keepers, but many fish would thrive on them too.

He just threw them in the tank whole and the fish went to town. That's interesting though. I just use fluval bug bites
If they are feeding the small ones to bigger fish it should be fine id assume. There meant to be for reptiles so they are safe. I have some for my gecko but i wonder if i made a meal for my bettas....
