HI guys. I just moved my crayfish into a 10 gallon and was wondering what I should change/add. So far he seems to like digging in the sand

Also can he have any tank mates? I was thinking of housing a few male guppies (maybe 3?) or white clouds with him

Tank:
Size - 10gallons
Substrate - sand
Filter - sponge
Plants - mostly fake, 1 anubias
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 10

I threw in guppy culls with mine. He would catch one a week or so. It was both stimulating and healthy. Now these were guppies I bred so no worrying about diseases though I don't know of many fish can give crayfish since their job in nature is to scavenge and eat just about anything.

I don't mind if he eats fry if its good for him. Maybe ill get some from my lfs and qt them, if he doesn't eat them then that's fine

Actually fry are harder for them to catch. Think of catching a feather vs a piece of cat hair. The larger feather is easier to catch. If you look at your crayfish food fish should be the first ingredient. Nothing better then fresh fish. Mine was in a 20 with around a dozen guppies. It was at a point in time were I was almost always moving fish around so I'm not sure exactly how many he ate but I would see him with one every now and then.

The crab pellets I would say are better then shrimp pellets for a crayfish. Other then cover any holes in your lid. They are escape artists.

Ok ill stick to the crab pellets. The lid is a reptile lid, no way for him to escape

Once they get settled in and have something to hunt they are very entertaining. I don't think you will be disappointed.
