Crayfish Activity

Lately my crayfish has become very inactive. This changed since I removed all the fish from his tank ( he's getting to big and starts being a threat for them). He was always running around the 29 gallon he's in and I loved watching him but since he's alone in a tank he doesn't come out of his hiding spot very often.

I realize crayfish are usually not very active during the day but mine always was when I still had fish in the tank (maybe he was trying to hunt them, or just curious) so my question is are there any fish that people have succesfully kept with crayfish? It's likely he'll be more active and energetic again with some tankmates.

Cheers,

Kev

I had a crayfish eat another crayfish once, they were well fed and had plenty of food but still one are the other, so no. Maybe you could put some ghost shrimp in for him to hunt

I know, I was just saying if it’ eat its own kind it will also eat anything that can reach and the fish will come down to sleep and that’ll be the perfect chance for him to eat it

He might be getting ready to molt. My son's stopped eating and being active a few days ago and yesterday we saw her exoskeleton in her hideout. We have zebra danios with my daughter's crayfish and a few have been eaten. My son has hatchet fish with his and those have been fine. I'd recommend the hatchet fish. Plus, my son thinks they look pretty cool.

True, I need fish that are fast and stay almost entirely at the top of the tank.

I don't think it's because he'll be molting soon. It's been going on for 10 days or so

How old is he? He could be coming down with age. Also, what is the temp? Water parameters might affect him
