I am wondering if anyone can tell me if using Black Diamond Blasting Sand as a substrate is safe for crawfish?
I am thinking about this stuff

If not what are some inexpensive alternatives?

I wouldn’t use that. Use this:

It needs to be rinsed SUPER well before use though. It’s a very fine sand.

I have a crayfish on playsand, but I'll be putting rocks and gravel on top soon. I wish I had saved the source, but I read that studies showed crayfish that are both endemic to rocky areas and sandy areas preferred a rocky gravel to sand.
