Anyone know anything about fiddler crabs? I've done some research, which in a nutshell told me that they "did not kill fish", need brackish water (but adding 1t salt per gal would be good), and a land & sea set up. Well I woke up to my only fish (a beautiful female silver tipped shark catfish, we had just got) being eaten by one. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice on these guys?

HI Silvervixen

I'm really sorry about your shark.
If you could fill in your aquarium information it would help a great deal.
It's found under My Settings on the blue bar, top left.

Thanks!

anything with a claw of that size, I wouldn't be surprised if it was eating a dead fish.
are there any wounds that you can see on the corpse that might be from the crab's claws?
the fish might have just died, and the crab thought of it as an easy meal.
I had a balloon belly molly that swam around, ate, pooped, seemed healthy, then died and disappeared, later found by my snail.

If I were you, I'd probably keep fiddler crabs in their own tank, and not introduce them to any other fish.

I have never kept fiddler crabs, but that's just some of the things I thought of.
