Cost of setting up and Maintaining a saltwater aquarium

I love saltwater aquariums, but I can't get over how expensive they are. I keep looking up the cost but I keep getting random numbers. How much did it cost you to setup your aquarium? And how much a month does the hobby cost you?

 

Setting up my 75G reef aquarium with moderate quality equipment costed me about $3000 to fill up and stock with fish and corals. The maintenance is costing me about $50 a month on salt mix, various foods, electricity etc.

I have 300g and cost me 200$ a month

 

Check craigslist, you can get some killer deals on there. So far I think I've broken even or possibly even made money by setting up my nano reef (still building it though and haven't bought any livestock yet)

 

Wow... This is a really expensive hobby.
