Corys Are Breeding

Got this pair of Emeralds from a friend last fall who didnt want them anymore. They were always alone and are 8ish years old. My son wanted them in his bedroom 10 gallon that has a few guppies and a betta, so I figured it could hurt.

Flash forward to last week when I decided they needed to go in one of our blackwater Amazon tanks so I moved them. Its a 20 tall with 6 Peppered, 15 Black Neons and 2 GBRs.

So I'm sitting here and I can see them freaking out, darting all over and I instantly think the worst because these 2 rarely move. I look over and sure enough, she's plastering eggs everywhere.

Grabbed my phone and snapped a couple bad pics. lol

Ive found 7 piles of eggs and counted 76 individuals. My son is going to FREAK when he gets home from school.

Yeah, I'm actually a photographer but I only use my phone for calls. It was in reach, so I grabbed it. Didnt know if it was my only chance. I DID go get my camera though, and Ill go through the pics and post some. I got some VERY cool s over the 8 hours she was dropping eggs.

I'm SHOCKED at how many she dropped.

Here's a neat shot. She is actually "cupping" the eggs with her pelvic fins while finding a suitable location to place them. Sometimes she'd swim around quit a bit before choosing a location. She did this every time.
