Corys and salt.

Today I bought 3 bronze Cory cats for my 28 litre tank. The guydown my LFS says it would be ok to do that so I’m not really bothered aboutthat. Currently my tank has got some aquarium salt in it, I know that corydoracatfish don’t tolerate salt, but will they be ok with aquarium salt? Also, isaquarium salt different to regular salt?

 

Cories really won't tolerate salt at all. If I were you, I'd take the salt out or do water changes.

 

That tank is MUCH too small for bronze corys. I wouldn't put them in anything smaller than a 20 gallon.

I also would not count on that lfs guy for advice, ever again.

It's aquarium salt people are referring to when they say they don't tolerate it well.

May I suggest that going forward, you do research on the species PRIOR to purchase. Otherwise, it's unfair to them.

I would do a 50 percent water change. Also bronze cires are to small they like to roam around in schools

The only fish suitable for that tank are nanos like Celestial Pearl Danios or a single Betta or shrimp.

I haven't put any salt in the tank for weeks now, I was just wondering if I could put some in, in the future. I'm going to get a larger tank in a few months and move my corys in there then.

Salt will not disappear on its own so doing the water changes is a must. Especially with salt in there currently.(per your OP) As others have suggested, no salt is needed.
