Of course I leave the house and 5 minutes later the kids call and say the corys laid eggs...... I am having a hard time finding what to do now.  I have 2 female and 1 male peppered cory. They have about 3-4 groups of eggs in the tank. Do I have to remove the eggs?? Please help don't know what to do here..

Cory eggs will hatch in 3-4 days if not eaten by the other tank mates. they are stuck to the glass with and adhesive and almost impossible to remove without damaging them.
Watch for them to hatch them siphon them out into another tank if you have it. Good Luck!!

The eggs are the only ones in the tank? or the corys are the only ones? If the corys are in there and can be moved it would be much better. What kind of filter do you have? Cory fry are extremely tiny. I have three week old cory fry and they are just now big enough to take pics. keep us posted.

I would keep to my lighting schedule. How do the eggs look? still kind of clearish looking? sometimes with a magnifying glass you can see teh litle cory developing inside the kids would love to see that.

they look like they have orangish coloring in the middle, am going to look for a magnifying glass now. will let you know what I see..

Some of the eggs are white, and some are still clearish... How do I tell when they have hatched?? Will I be able to see the babies??

Ooopps forgot to add that I removed parents from the tank, most of the snails from the tank and also most of the gravel from the tank so they don't get hurt or stuck in it.

When they hatch you will see timy little tails sticking out of the shells wiggling. This is the stage called wigglers or you may see some on the bottom wiggling or swimming around.

How do I prevent fungus from growing on it?

My second heater is broken, I tried putting it in but it made a burning smell. Its summer here in Australia, will it be fine if there's no heater?

Nevermind, it was just that my water level was low. I've put it back in and set it to 21 degrees Celsius. How long will I have to wait until they hatch?

where can I buy methylene blue?

You might want to keep an eye on that heater.
The burning smell and that it was partially out of water when plugged in could have burned it out.

I always let eggs do what they do. If they go fuzzy I remove them. If not I cross my fingers and hope they hatch.
Sometimes people use an air stone for water movement to try and prevent fungus.
Others who are much more amendment about breeding would do things differently I'm sure.

Methylene blue can usually be found in fish stores. Maybe on line.
Not sure about Australia. I know they have strict regulations.

What do albino corydora eggs look like? The ones I have are a white spot on the inside and clear on the outside.

That's what my cory eggs look like.
I've got peppered cories.

If I recall correctly if they are solid white they are not fertile.

The eggs are now turning yellow, there are some which have 1 or 2 small lines of hair coming out. I've moved them where air comes. I am probably guessing that they will fungalise over. Should I remove them now or?

I've added multI cure, which contains malachite green, methylene blue and acriflavine.

I don't do a thing with my cory eggs. My assassin snails get some, but I just go by a "survival of the fittest" mentality. I don't interfere with any of my spawns.

What is your hatching rate?

I think if I had the cory eggs ill leave them and let them hatch by themselves. also if youve got time try a diy fence around the eggs for more survivability rate. and after hatching transfer them to another tank. here in india we get methylene blue in the drug store

What is your hatching rate?

I have no idea. I'm not raising corys to sell. The assassins take most of the eggs. I never thought about the hatch rate in any of my tanks because it doesn't matter to me.

I signed on to become a fishkeeper, not a midwife for fish. I like the natural approach. It allows me to not get overstocked, to end up with stronger, healthier fry and I see each fry as a miracle. I wouldn't want to lose that.

Has anyone bred albino corydora catfish?
All my eggs are yellowish with a small batch being dark yellow. In the middle of the eggs have the white spot. I've seen YouTube videos where the albino eggs hatch. They don't seem to have the black spot in the middle. Tomorrow will be the eggs' third day, my filter is strong and the part where they suck things up is strong too, I added a small cup underneath to prevent any fry from going in. The aeration is strong though, what should I do? Turn it off?

Before I've treated with multI cure to prevent any fungus growth and did two 50% water changes with the bigger tank's water.

Thanks

Aeration is actually a good thing. You want water flow around the eggs. That helps keep them viable and fungus free.

I know it's good but I wonder if it's too strong for the fry.

My fry hang out beneath driftwood and in java moss. Fry are much smarter than you think. They have incredible survival instincts.

Oh sweet, its day 3 now, no eggs have hatched, but they are turning into a dark yellowish colour and inside there are like 1-2 white spots. Do you know what this is? I have albino corydoras.

I think I see it's eyes! I think albino species eye's are sort of white. Theres 2 tiny eyes connected to the big white spot. Cool!

zzz nevermind, the white bit in the middle is somehow gone and the white dots are more than 2 on the eggs, I took out like 5 eggs with fungus. Day 4 now, no eggs hatched.

Awww sorry. Maybe next time.
If they spawned once they probably will again.

sorry not trying to hijack the thread but how long does it take cory dora eggs to hatch and how do you tell if they are fertilized?

yeah I didn't have any luck with mine either. I did get four to hatch but they were in my main tank and I have no clue what happened to the fry. Hoping some of them made it in there just hiding from me. Cory babies are clear when they're born and extremely tiny, about half the size of a grain of rice. So if they do hatch sometimes it's impossible to even see the fry. Good luck! Once my cories started spawning I ended up with about 10 dozen eggs in my tank within 3 weeks

I am a beginner in this, I’ve had my tank for about a month, but right now I’m discovering that I received both a male and female peppered Cory as I came home tonight and the female is in the middle of popping eggs out! so I’d love on any advice on what to do. I’ve read that I should remove the eggs if I want them to live? I also have two dwarf puffers in my tank, if that matters. I already have another tank set up that I was planning to use for breeding snails. Should I just put them in there?
do I need to do anything special after that?

I’m doing the same thing now. Best to remove eggs if you want to hatch them. You can get a fry net that hangs inside the tank (what size tank) or use the second tank (what size). I like to leave them in the fry net for around 2 weeks than put them in tank. Something to think about what will you do with the fry? I have over 70 now. I have 5 from about a month ago that I can’t give away.
The eggs hatch in about 48 hrs. Fry will eat shrimp pellets.

Thanks for the info! My cories are in a 10gal right now. My second tank is 3.5gal.. however I just set it up about four days ago so it definitely isn’t cycled yet. I started it up using water from my 10gal though. Would the eggs be okay in that or should I definitely get a fry net and keep them in the current tank?

I tried to get it moving for you in B/S/T LOL I guess it didn’t help. So what’s your plans for the new babies?

Yes I’d put them in a fry net. Those eggs will be hatching soon. Just save a few eggs 5-10 and enjoy those. Unforunatly there hard to get rid of them when they grow. So just grow out what you want.
NikkI I have no clue what I’m going to do with them . Going to lfs to see if they will take the 5.

I am realizing now I don’t think I can keep all my babies and it makes me sad but no matter what I try to figure out in my head on which tanks they can safely live in they will still make the tank over stalked. I know my LFS will take them and they are very good with taking care of the fish but those are my babies! Lol you have like 30 more babies now right?? Have you found out if they are pandas yet?? I know too soon but I get so excited to see the cuties. I will buy some of those from you when I let some of my 30 babies go lol ok maybe all my babies. No more hatching eggs for me.
