They plastered them all over the tank, LOL. I'm pretty sure these are from my emerald Corys, I just got them about a week ago and I noticed that they've been doing a lot of dancing around the tank. I would like to try to raise them, so what do I do now? I know absolutely nothing about fry. Nothing. Zippo. Never tried to do this before. I have a mesh breeder box, so should I remove the eggs and put them in there and how would I go about that? Or what should I do? I'm not going to be super sad if they don't make it, but I am curious to see if I could raise a couple.

I’d try to get a net around those so other fish won’t get them

Following as I’m waiting for my cories to breed! I think we’ve determined they are still a bit young.

Like just use my regular net that I use for catching the fish?

Bend the handle so it hangs over them in a way that deters fish

Sorry guys, call me stupid but I can't tell if you're telling me to scoop the eggs off the glass and put them in the breeder box with the net or put a net, bending downward, over them for now until they hatch. I learn visually, not usually by reading, lol sorry.

All your fish including the one that laid them will feast on them. Check out the cory section and follow Coradee's great advise on how to hatch your cory eggs. The first time I got eggs I followed her advice and was very successful.

Scrape the eggs off (with something like a credit card) and but them in the net.

Okay sweet! That makes a lot of sense! I got them in my floating mesh breeder box I wasn't able to get all of them because they laid them in stupid places LOL. I guess I have happy Corys! I never thought I would ever manage that haha. Thanks so much Mattgirl for the recommendation, reading the article now!

I have found that I get a much better hatch rate if I never expose the eggs to air. I experienced quite a few fungused over the eggs that had been exposed to air. Now when I collect them I make sure I keep them underwater at all times and seldom ever see them grow fungus. Might just be a coincidence though.

good to know! I think I did lift them out of the water a little bit, yikes. Hopefully it all works out.

This is my current setup. Definitely have a small handful of fertilized eggs!

They are super tiny when first hatched but grow quickly with good food. I start mine off with a mixture of super finely ground grown up food and micro-worms. I feed them several times a day but remove any uneaten food before adding more.

Thank you so much for that info, I was about to ask that actually. I'm curious, am I supposed to wait until day 3 after they hatch to start feeding them because they are eating their egg sacs?

They will feed on their eggs sack for a couple of days. I am always anxious to start feeding them so always start doing it the day after they hatch. I am sure I am wasting food and causing myself more work than necessary by having to clean it back out. I use a turkey baster to keep the bottom clean. When you do it be sure to siphon the water into a white container so you can see if you have siphoned any out. It is very easy to do it when they are so tiny.

Two weeks old today and they've switched to pellets! Eight out of the ten survived, I'm quite pleased.
Also I discovered a random shrimp in the nursery I must have missed when I transferred ask the shrimp to their own tank lol. Baby Ramshorn are in there too, growing them out for the pea puffer to feast on.

I have eight iridescent emerald green Corys, eight peppered and two albinos I'm passing onto my sister in law who is starting an albino shoal. I think these babies are peppered crossed with the emeralds since I know it was the emeralds dancing around before the eggs were laid. What are your guys thoughts?

Congratulations on such a successful spawn. I wish I could answer your question. The only species of cory I have gotten fry from are albino and bronze. The albino female is the mom to all my cory fry. Out of all that hatched I only got one albino fry and sadly it didn't make it. All the rest, and there have been a bunch of them, have been bronze.

It’s hard to tell what species they are when they are still fry. I’m with mattgirl and have only raised bronze fry. But, I’m not sure if peppered corys and emerald corys can cross breed, so it is likely one or the other.
